Coffin Lane 18.01.21

Today I returned to Coffin Lane, I wanted to see if Archie could sit with me while I painted so I was quite quick and left a bit of finishing to do in the studio. I met a lovely woman at the bottom of the lane who told me a bit more of the story of Coffin Lane. It used to be the main route between Northam and Buckland Brewer. It was the only route that didn’t become a river when it was high tide. It was as the name suggest, the only route that coffins could be carried along.
